Laminar Airflow Unit (Workstation)

Laminar Airflow Unit (Workstation) is a cabinet fitted with a HEPA filtered airflow system. Here, laminar means a unidirectional constant flow of air with almost no or minimal turbulence. The airflow velocity remains between 0.3 m/s to 0.5 m/s. The purpose of using such workstations in the laboratory is to create a particle and bacteria-free working environment to carry out specialized work. As these units discharge air towards the user, they provide no personal protection but product protection from room contaminants. LAF is a short form of laminar airflow. also known as LAF.

In the Laminar Airflow Unit (Workstation), room air is entered into the working area through a HEPA filter fitted on the back side of the cabinet. Filtered air flows Vertically toward the user creating a sterile working environment. The efficiency of a Laminar Air Flow workstation depends upon the quality of pre-filters and HEPA filters. In our LAF, the Air filtration system is created to work efficiently even in critical environments. Pre-filters that we use are box-type pleated having an efficiency of 95% down to 5 microns and made of HDPE + Non-woven + HDPE mesh media and fitted in an aluminum case. The HEPA filters are of high quality having an efficiency of 99.999 % down to 0.3 microns and fitted in an aluminum anodized case. The blower assembly has ¼ HP; 1400 RPM branded motor and has aluminum anodized impellers.

The working area is carefully designed for comfortable working and easy cleaning. The workbench is made of stainless steel. Standard fittings are air/gas cock and electrical outlet. For illumination, we use fluorescent lamps. The front side of the working area is covered by a manual sliding door (sash), which is made of transparent acrylic plastic. LCD display for air velocity, time, and lamp on/off status is displayed on it. Germicidal UV lamp, extra electrical socket, and Magnehelic gauge are also fitted if required.

Biosafety Cabinets are specialized workstations widely used in clinical, pharmaceutical, life science and industrial laboratories where experiments need highly contaminant free environment. These cabinets are considered safer than other clean benches because such BSCs effectively eliminate risks to operator/staff, samples, and the environment from pathogenic biological agents (PBA) and microorganisms responsible for spreading airborne infection.

WHY DO WE USE BIOSAFETY CABINET?
The purpose of using biosafety cabinet in microbiology laboratory is to protect laboratory personal as well as surrounding environment from exposure to biohazards while working with infectious agents.

BIOSAFETY CABINET APPLICATIONS

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CLASS 2 BIOSAFETY CABINET
There are three types of class 2 biosafety cabinets are made. It is the type of work which decides which class 2 bsc should be used in laboratory. Below is short description about all types:

Type A2: recirculate approximately 70% air and 30% exhaust
Type B1: recirculate approximately 30% air and 70% exhaust
Type B2: Does not recirculate but exhaust 100% air

AIR CIRCULATION
In order to minimize spread of airborne bacteria and viral organisms, the use of filter is crucial; therefore, we use 99.97% efficiency HEPA filters for particle size 0.3 microns in our biological class 2 type A2 safety cabinets. These air filters are of reputed brands in the market, economical in price and easy replaceable. ISO 5 / Class 100 quality, supply and exhaust through HEPA filters are done. Inflow velocity remains approx. 105 fpm (0.5 m/sec), while down flow velocity remains approx. 55 fpm (0.3 m/sec). 70 % air is re-circulated and 30% exhaust.

OTHER FITTINGS
Our Biosafety cabinets are fitted with fluorescent lights outside working zone. UV lamps are fitted inside working zone in such a way that the operator cannot see them directly. An hour meter is connected to UV lamp. Electrical sockets are fitted to run any instrument under the working area; in addition, service fixtures for air, gas, vacuum and water are also fitted.

Cleanroom Air Shower and Tunnel

Air shower is a two doors walk-through dust removal system, which is fitted prior to cleanroom entrance. The purpose of setting up air shower system is to control the risk of spreading contaminants in the cleanroom environment by removing particulate matter on the personnel by throwing class 100 airflow. The air shower machine throws high velocity HEPA filtered air through jet nozzles which removes particulate matter (includes solid and liquid particles suspend in air and some of them are hazardous in nature). The contaminated air is again filtered and re-circulated. With-in seconds, the person entering into air shower comes out entirely cleans i.e. free from harmful dust. Electronics and Pharmaceutical productions and animal breeding laboratories are some of areas where air showers are extensively used.

We are V-Mac Enginners manufacturer in India. We have in house facility of design, construction and installation of air shower entry systems for laboratories, clean rooms and manufacturing areas etc. These systems are carefully constructed at our factory, tested at various parameters then dispatched to the client’s site. Our air shower cabinets are designed with corrosion resistant materials (Stainless steel or powder coated MS), fitted with easy to use controls and safety arrangements; filters are easily replaceable whenever needed.

Our air shower entry systems are custom designed and constructed as per requirements of the customers and sold at industry leading price in India.

NO. OF PERSONS PER CYCLE
Standard models are made only for 1 person per cycle. To meet the needs of large number of workers, we can also design air showers with 2, 3 and 4 persons per cycles. They can also be fitted in series and parallel to meet demand of large number of workers.

EXIT TYPE
Our air showers are available of throughout type entry-exit, L type entry-exit and one-way entry and two way exit type.

CONSTRUCTION
Made of only corrosion resistant materials; we use either high grade stainless steel anti-microbial properties or powder coated MS for construction.

DOORS
Two doors are fitted in a system, one at entrance and one at exit. Doors are also made of stainless steel or powder coated MS. Handles and hydraulic door closers are fitted for easy access of door. Electromagnetic interlocking allows opening of single at one time; thus, prevents unwanted contamination inside the machine. There is also emergency switch; by pressing it, both doors open immediately.

BLOWER
Properly balanced motor blower of standard make, fitted with suspension system for noise level reduction.

FLOORING
Flooring or platform is made of either Stainless steel or Aluminum with detachable anti-slip PVC mat or equivalent material.

FITTINGS
Over all fittings such as handles, hinges and wires etc. are of any reputed brand and ISI marked.

INSTALLATION
Our engineering team visits your site and installs the machine properly. Demonstration and training is provided to all relevant staff.
